Arrival Day Julius Nyerere International Airport

Welcome to Tanzania: Meet and greet at arrival point(usually at Julius Nyerere International Airport) by our transfer and representative driver from Nduwa Tours who will escort you to the waiting vehicle for loading your luggage then drive you to the Hotel in Dar es Salaam town. You will meet our representative who will show up at the Airport with a sign board with your name and a warm smile on his/her face when welcoming you to Tanzania. After checking in at the hotel you will get a briefing about your next day’s Safari in Mikumi & Udzungwa Mountain then your mountain guide will check/inspect your climbing gears. The rest of the day can be spent relaxing at the pool or exploring the town of Dar es Salaam.

Mikumi & Udzungwa Mountains Itinerary

Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Mikumi

At 06:00 am, after breakfast, you will be picked up from the hotel and depart from Dar es Salaam via Morogoro and Chalinze with a picnic lunch pack. You will probably arrive at Mikumi National Park at 15:30 and start the game drive right away. During a game drive at Mikumi, we will come across lion, eland, hartebeest, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe, zebras elephant, wild dog and many species of birds. After the evening game drive you will have your dinner and overnight inside of the Park at Mikumi Cottages. Meal plan is by you requesting your mostly preferred food as the cost of the food is inclusive in the price of this quote.

Day 2: Mikumi full-day game drive

After breakfast, you will proceed with a full-day game drive in Mikumi National Park, you will be able to see all species of animal and birds. Due to its savannah plains, animals at Mikumi are easily accessed. Then at late afternoon you will drive to Camp Bastian Lodge for either swimming or just resting and later your overnight stay. Meal plan: full board.

Day 3: Mikumi to Udzungwa Mountains and Sanje Waterfalls

After arrival from Mikumi then start the trekking that leads to the spectacular trails up to Sanje Waterfalls, one of the unique features of Udzungwa. Here you will get a good view of Kilombero Valley, which is ideal for agriculture known as “The Galapagos of Africa”, Udzungwa Mountains is home to several culturally and historically significant sites such as Magombereka Cave, Bokela, Mwanaruvele Cave, Ndundulu, Nyumbanitu Mountains and others. While in the peak of mountains you will get the opportunity to swim in the natural swimming pool formed with the ongoing water falls. In the evening you will have your overnight and dinner at Udzungwa Forest Tented Camp.

Day 4: Udzungwa to Dar es Salaam

Early in the morning you will start the journey to Dar es Salaam for connecting to Zanzibar if you will have that route.
