Arrival Day Julius Nyerere International Airport

Welcome to Tanzania: Meet and greet at arrival point(usually at Julius Nyerere International Airport) by our transfer and representative driver from Nduwa Tours who will escort you to the waiting vehicle for loading your luggage then drive you to the Hotel in Dar es Salaam town. You will meet our representative who will show up at the Airport with a sign board with your name and a warm smile on his/her face when welcoming you to Tanzania. After checking in at the hotel you will get a briefing about your next day’s Safari in Mikumi & Udzungwa Mountain then your mountain guide will check/inspect your climbing gears. The rest of the day can be spent relaxing at the pool or exploring the town of Dar es Salaam.

Hiking Udzungwa Mountains & Mikumi Itinerary

Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park

Depart at 4.30 AM from Dar es Salaam via Morogoro and Chalinze and proceed to Mikumi National Park for 6 hours. On arrival, we will continue with a game drive then enjoy a hot lunch in the afternoon before proceeding with a game drive for the rest hours. You will come across lion, eland, hartebeest, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe, zebra, elephant, wild dog and many species of birds dwelling in the Park. Arrive at your accommodation, Mikumi Park Cottages, located inside the park, which gives you an extra game viewing experience.

Day 2: Sunrise game drive and Sanje Waterfalls

Go on with a pre-breakfast game drive in the park. Morning game drives is the best as you might spot some predators with their prey. Return for breakfast at 9 AM, then head for the Sanje Waterfalls at Udzungwa, this is the highest waterfall in Tanzania. You can swim in the natural pool (remember your swimwear). Our guide/rangers will accompany you on the hiking tour. Udzungwa Mountains National Park is well known for its excellent hiking, trekking, mountain climbing and forest walks. The most popular hiking tour is up to the Sanje Waterfalls, looking for monkeys, swimming in plunge pools and enjoying the spectacular view while enjoying a picnic lunch. After your hiking tour, you will descend the mountains and return to your accommodation at Camp Bastian in Mikumi.

Main Destination: Udzungwa Mountains National Park

Day 3: Maasai tour then a Safari back to Dar es Salaam

Before breakfast experience an early morning tremendous visit to Maasai village near Mikumi National Park where you will be able to learn about their life style, enjoy dances, and even buy some Maasai gifts for your family. Then drive back to Bastian Camp for breakfast and pack your staffs for the trip back to Dar es Salaam.
